About

What this is

A free community lab notebook for adults learning astrophysics and quantum physics for fun. Instead of starting with textbooks, you recreate famous experiments at home — weighing Jupiter, measuring the speed of light, finding Planck's constant — and write up what happens.

How it works

  • The library holds step-by-step experiment guides, books and tools. Anyone can browse it without an account.
  • My notebook is your private space: track each experiment's status, record your data and notes, and keep an observing log of your nights under the stars.
  • The community feed shows write-ups members have chosen to share. You can like them and leave comments.
  • Suggestions: members can propose new experiments, books and resources. An admin checks every one for safety and accuracy before it joins the library.

The method

  1. Learn just enough — one short video or chapter on the idea.
  2. Predict — write down what you expect before measuring.
  3. Do it — record everything.
  4. Explain it — a one-page write-up, as if for a friend.
  5. Follow the questions — they become the next project.

Your data

Your notebook is private unless you tick "Share on the community feed" on an entry, and you can untick it at any time. Your email address is never shown to other members — only the display name you choose.

Safety

Safety: Never look at the Sun with your eyes or through binoculars or a telescope — only ever use projection. Never point a laser at anyone's eyes. Keep a resistor in every LED circuit.
